London councillors revolt over Government planning reforms

Over 220 local councillors from London Boroughs have joined calls for Robert Jenrick, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, to abandon damaging elements of proposed reforms to the planning system.

The call comes in an open letter signed by over 2000 English local authority councillors from across the political spectrum .  Echoing concerns expressed by CPRE London and many others, they fear the reforms will undermine public trust in planning, reduce protection of local green space, and undermine efforts to tackle climate change.
