Influencing policy
We work to influence policies through the London Plan, local borough plans, and much more…
We aim to
- Engage politicians and officials
- Hold the Mayor, Greater London Authority and London boroughs to account on the environment
- Scrutinise plans and seek to influence decisions
- Take action to make sure policies and promises are not broken.
Policy actions
- We are currently working to put London’s environment at the heart of the 2024 Mayoral Election
- In early 2022 we pressed all candidates in the local elections to commit to action on London’s natural environment through a manifesto for May 2022 borough elections
- This followed from actions in 2021 when we coordinated a coalition to influence commitments from candidates on A More Natural Capital, and followed up with our First 100 days report
- In January 2021 we responded to the Mayor’s Public London Charter, calling for higher standards of access to open space in the capital
- We did extensive work to promote lessons from lockdown relating to access to green space and more
- We influenced the new London Plan including responding to the Inspector’s Report
- We contributed to the Green Spaces Commission review
- We also regularly engage with borough Local Plan consultations
