As Dame Judi Dench says in our report, ‘it is more important than ever to protect our parks and green spaces, before it’s too late.’

I am writing to ask if you will take action to save London’s threatened parks and green spaces.

A recent legal judgement confirmed that councils have unfettered powers to sell parks. Elsewhere, parks are being turned into commercial event spaces. I believe that there is no excuse for councils to sell parks or rent them for inappropriate commercial events. 

• Will you support changes to the law to ensure councils cannot sell London’s parks, or rent them for inappropriate commercial events?

So-called ‘grey belt’ policy is threatening Green Belt farmland by enabling landowners to cash-in on protected countryside land they bought cheaply years ago, despite widescale availability of brownfield land in London. This includes a staggering 300,000 homes with planning permission unbuilt.

• Will you call for an end to the ‘grey belt’ policy which is damaging London’s Green Belt?
