CPRE London’s Green Defenders network met on the 24th October to discuss the latest threats to green spaces in London.

The meeting heard from Eva Guerra and Kate Tidmarsh – campaigners fighting plans to cut down trees and remove football pitches at the Finsbury Leisure Site, one of the few remaining public open spaces in a very built-up area of Islington.

Attendees also heard the latest news about campaigns to protect Wimbledon Park and Whitewebbs Park and were updated about CPRE London’s recent meeting with the Government to discuss the damaging impact of commercialisation of green spaces in the capital.

The Green Defenders network meets quarterly to share experience and pool advice on protecting green spaces across the capital. Keep an eye out for the next meeting in January, and sign up for updates here: Green Defenders – protecting London’s environment – CPRE London
