Get involved! Join leading charities and show our politicians how much nature, parks and green spaces matter to voters on the National Day of Action.
We are proud to be supporting the Community Planning Alliance’s National Day of Action 2026, for nature, parks and green spaces.
On Saturday 18 April, just before the May local elections, groups and communities across the UK will be taking part in the Day of Action. The purpose is simple: to demonstrate, visibly and collectively, that people everywhere care deeply about the natural world and want to see it protected and restored.

Why?
Across the country, communities are becoming increasingly concerned about the loss of nature, the decline of local green spaces, and the pressures on our parks, rivers, woodlands and wildlife. These natural spaces are essential to our wellbeing, resilience, and sense of belonging – yet they are too often overlooked in national debate.
This is a non‑partisan, community‑led initiative. It is not aligned with any political party or other campaign. Its aim is to show decision‑makers of all parties that nature matters to the electorate – and that safeguarding green spaces is a shared national priority. CPRE London are delighted to support the Day of Action, along with the Community Planning Alliance, National Federation of Parks and Green Spaces, Badger Trust, Bat Conservation Trust and CIEEM (Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management).
How can you get involved?
If you’re an organisation, you can show your support for the day by:
- sharing the date with your members or supporters
- encouraging local groups to organise an activity or event
- taking part yourself, even if is just a supportive Instagram/Facebook post or tweet on the day
- simply lending your name in support of the principle
Activities can be as small or as ambitious as groups wish: a local litter pick, a guided walk, a tree‑planting session, a community picnic, a wildlife survey, a park celebration, a campaign event highlighting local issues, or simply a group photo on the village green. You will be encouraged to publicise your activities and the reasons for them via social media and press releases. The strength of the day will come from its diversity and from the thousands of people who take part in their own way.
Local activities planned can be logged by completing this FORM.
