Our annual appeal: create ten new green spaces for London!

7th September 2020

Let’s create ten new green spaces for Londoners!

HELP US PROTECT PRECIOUS GREEN SPACES – DONATE TO OUR APPEAL FOR TEN NEW PARKS FOR LONDONERS!

The last few months have shown us the value of urban green spaces to our health and wellbeing. Being able to get to local green spaces during the pandemic has been a great relief and delight for Londoners, many of whom live in cramped conditions and without private gardens. Yet, in some parts of the city parks and green spaces are in short supply and do not provide as many benefits as they could. We want to help fix this problem.

We are calling for 10 new parks for London – please make a donation to our appeal and help CPRE London achieve this.

A recent CPRE survey found that nearly half of people living in London visited green spaces more during lockdown. And almost two thirds of Londoners think that protecting and enhancing green space should be a higher priority after the pandemic. CPRE London is the only body working hard to safeguard green spaces from threats across the capital, supporting local campaigns, getting media attention, and influencing decision-makers. But we need to do more.

One of the best ways to protect open spaces is for them to be formally recognised as public parks.  We have drawn up a shortlist of areas that would benefit from such status including Warren Farm in Ealing, Bowring in Greenwich, and the East London Waterworks in Waltham Forest. We also want to extend and support new regional park areas – networks of green spaces – such as the Wandle Valley, and the Brent and Quaggy River Parks.

Despite many wonderful parks, London does not have enough green spaces and they are too far away from too many communities. Please make a donation towards our work and help us ensure we can pass on an even greener city to future generations.

Thank you for any support you are able to give.
