Greener London Project

It would be wonderful you could help volunteer park friends groups working in low-income areas. With your help, local volunteers can plant and maintain hedgerows, trees and edible gardens. In turn, this work helps capture carbon and reduces urban temperatures and pollution.

Your support will make a huge difference to groups like the Friends of Winsford Gardens and Royston Field (aka Penge Green Gym). The Penge Green Gym recruits many of its volunteers through social referrals because of the physical and health benefits of active volunteering outdoors.

'We're trying to increase the biodiversity in the park as well as improve the whole atmosphere and feel of the place for local people to come in. We get volunteers from the local area which is quite a deprived social area.'
Brenda Little, Penge Green Gym

Penge Green Gym intend to plant urban hedgerows as part of this project – which has so many benefits. On top of enhancing the landscape of Royston Field, it’ll improve tranquillity and help clean the air. Your support is vital to protecting these spaces now and for future generations.

'I really enjoy coming. It helps the local community and is a very social activity which I find helpful personally too'
one of Penge Green Gym's volunteers
