Progress So Far

Read about our 2025/26 demonstrator sites

Planning and research for the Tree Ring has taken about two years since the idea was first floated. This involved combing through hundreds of potential sites, identified both by members of the public and by London’s environmental records centre GiGL, to assess their suitability.
We’re delighted to report that the project is now underway with 10 “demonstrator sites” planted during this 2025/26 planting season.
These demonstrator sites were carefully selected to cover a variety of project including – hedgerow connectivity; urban orchards and food forests; community tree nurseries; micro forests; improved woodland management and biodiversity.

You can read more about our demonstrator sites in the form of individual “story maps” which will be published on this page shortly before our launch event in October 2026
