Tranquil London

Our Tranquil London work aims to improve the health benefits of green spaces and the wider public realm in Greater London. It follows on from CPRE’s influential national campaign on rural tranquility which raised the profile of the issue and secured improvements in national planning policy.

  • In 2018 we published research on the impact of Traffic Noise in London’s Parks including noise maps of parks in each individual London Boroughs
  • We have pressed the London Night Time Commission to protect the peace and quiet of public open space near areas of night-time activity.
  • We also hosted a discussion on Tranquil London at our AGM in 2018 exploring how we can improve opportunities to experience relative tranquility in the urban environment.

We are currently working with partners such as Tranquil City to explore tranquility in selected London parks.
